Dum spiro spero translates as “As I breathe, I hope” and is an important narrative for all of us (and happens to be the state motto of South Carolina). The Latin and English texts are woven together and unexpected but tasteful harmonic shifts keep the listener attentive. A wide dynamic spectrum is explored as well as rhythmic and tempo changes. Change is a part of life and I hope this piece will encourage you to have hope as long as you have breath.
